When Your Plant Arrives
Buz Plants are grown in semi-hydro. Most plants will arrive growing in tree fern fiber or a tree fern/PON mix. Some larger plants may arrive in moss.
After shipping, give your plant time to acclimate before making unnecessary changes.
Humidity & Acclimation
Our Anthuriums are generally grown at around 80–85% humidity.
For best results, keep your plant in similar humidity when it first arrives. Once the plant has acclimated and is growing well, you can gradually reduce the humidity to match the conditions where you plan to grow it long term.
Avoid making a sudden change from high humidity to very dry conditions immediately after shipping as your plant will crash.
Substrate
We believe plants generally grow best in the substrate and growing method that you are most familiar with.
You do not need to keep your plant in semi-hydro or tree fern simply because that is how we grow it.
You can:
- Keep the plant in its existing pot and substrate.
- Move it into an aroid mix.
- Transfer it into your preferred setup.
If you keep the plant in its current setup, place the pot in approximately ½ inch of water and replenish the water as needed.
Important Note About Tree Fern
Do not allow tree fern fiber to dry out completely.
Tree fern should remain consistently moist. Allowing it to dry completely and then saturating it again will lead to root problems and root rot.
Germinated Seeds & Small Sprouts
If you receive a germinated seed or very young sprout, keep it at or close to 100% humidity while it establishes.
A small Tupperware-style container, propagation box, or covered seedling tray works well.
Once the seedling is larger and established, you can gradually begin reducing the humidity.
